IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM THE MINISTRY OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS NEW ZEALAND, AND THE INTERNATIONAL MARKETING SUPERVISION NETWORK

____________________________________________________________________ If you wish to respond to this message please email mcainfo@moc.govt.nz

Today the International Marketing Supervision Network (IMSN) is undertak= ing an =93International Internet Sweep Day=94 to target the growing number o= f scams emerging on the Internet.

The Ministry of Consumer Affairs is a member of the IMSN, as is the Fede= ral Trade Commission in the US, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, and many other consumer law enforcement agencies in 29 countries.

The Ministry of Consumer Affairs is sending you this message on behalf o= f the IMSN, based upon a review of your internet site at http://www.internetwks.com/pauling/index.html.

You should know that there is legislation in place in many countries whi= ch regulates the type of activity which you appear to be offering. Although= the legislation differs in each country, many countries prohibit misleading = or deceptive conduct generally, and the making of false claims about the sponsorship, approval, performance characteristics, accessories, uses or= benefits of goods or services.

You may obtain more information about the law applicable to these activities directly from individual IMSN agencies. Contact details for each of th= e participating agencies are listed on the homepage of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) at http://www.accc.gov.au

You should be aware that it is not necessarily only the law of the count= ry in which you reside that will apply to you. Many countries prohibit the= mere offering of these sorts of activities. As the Internet allows your= activities to be offered to consumers worldwide, then you need to ensure= that you are not in breach of legislation in countries other than your o= wn. This is particularly the case if you enter into dealings with consumers = in other countries.

The IMSN has not determined whether your Internet promotion violates a federal or state law in any of the IMSN countries. However, staff member= s from the Ministry of Consumer Affairs have preserved a copy of your Internet promotion to determine whether future action is warranted.
